BYC’s Champions League Opponent Reveals

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has held the draw for the preliminary rounds of this year’s African Champions League.

Liberia’s representatives in this year’s Caf Champions League showdown has been drawn against opponents from Guinea.

Liberia Football Association giants, Barrack Young Controller (BYC) will be aiming to upset Guinea’s Horoya AC in an away showpiece, when they meet in a first leg battle in the Caf Champions League.

BYC booked their meeting with Horoya AC in a Caf Champions League preliminary encounter following the draw held in Cairo this Month.

The battle is scheduled to take place on 27–28 November at the Stade 28 Septembre, Conakry, while the return leg will see the Liberian side plays host to their counterpart in Monrovia on 4–5 December 2018.

Horoya Athlétique Club, also known as Horoya Conakry and H.A.C., is a football club based in Conakry, Guinea.

The club’s jersey colors are red and white. The red symbolizes the blood of the marytrs for the independence struggle and white for great purity and hope.

The name Horoya signifies liberty or freedom in its local languages, in Arabic, Horoya signifies liberty or freedom.

Horoya won the African Cup Winners’ Cup (now the African Confederation Cup) in 1978.

Horoya Guinée is 15 times Champions of the Guinean Top League with recorded year of (1986, 1988, 1989, 1990, 1991, 1992, 1994, 2000, 2001, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2015, 2016 and 2017).

Horoya AC won for the first time the African Cup Winners’ Cup in 1978.    The Club also won the Guinée Coupe Nationale seven times (1989, 1994, 1995, 1999, 2013, 2014 and 2016).

Horoya has appeared eight times in the CAF Champions League ending in the First Round in 2000, Preliminary Round in 2002, first round in 2012, Preliminary Round in 2013, Play-off Round in    2014, First round in 2016, First round in 2017 and Quarter-finals in 2018.

The club has also recorded six appearances in the African Cup of Champions: (1986 – Second Round, 1987 – First Round, 1989 – First Round, 1992 – Second Round, 1993 – First Round and     1995 – First Round.

Barrack Young Controller (BYC) used LISCR FC to capture a “Double Championship” in the 2018 Liberia Football Association (LFA) national league.

The senior “Go Blue Boys” convincingly whipped the “Shipping Boys” 4-0 to clinch the 2018 edition of Liberia Football Association Knock-Out competition (FA Cup) two days after being crowned as Champions of the Local FA First Division domestic league.

In the FA Cup final, a brace from Trokon Myers plus a David Tweh’s wonderful solo drive and Mustapha Lomell strike sealed the win for BYC and ten-man LISCR FC.

A win for BYC will see them face Al-Nasr of Libya or South Sudan Al-Hilal Juba in round one of the competition on 27–28 November and 4–5 December 2018 in a two legs battle.
