A local entrepreneur group, Passion Link-Liberia, has begun a two days summit geared towards educating citizens of member countries of the Mano River Union (MRU), on the importance of entrepreneurship in the sub-region.

The Republics of Sierra Leone, Guinea and Ivory Coast make up the MRU, and the aim of the summit is to adopt plans to educate participants of entrepreneurship and increase access to renewable energy.

Convening at a plush local hotel in the Liberian Capital, Monrovia, the two-day Summit is being held under the theme: “Reducing Obstacles of Access to Startup Capital Technologies and Mentorship, for the Fast Growth of the Startup Entrepreneurs in Mano River Union Countries.

Passion-Link-Liberia’s Executive Director, Lincoln S. Kpotoe said, the aim of the ongoing Summit is to initiate awareness amongst citizens of individual MRU member countries on the benefits of economic development.

According to Kpotoe, members of the Union have been finding it difficult in taking charge of their own national economy, adding that the Summit will also help develop the minds of its members.

Mr. Kpotoe opined that for MRU countries to move forward, citizens, especially young people, must get involved into entrepreneurship.

He made the assertions at the start of the first ever Mano Rivers Union annual international Strategic Entrepreneurship Summit.

Also speaking, the Executive Director of Green City-Liberia, James K. Mulbah, urged young people to take advantage of the tremendous opportunities associated with entrepreneurship and development of the economy of their respective nations.

Mr. Mulbah admonished the summit’s participants, that the growth and development of any nation, as has been proven, are derived from entrepreneurs.
