Troubled CSA’s Ghost Names On Radar -As Director General-Designate Vows To Make Things Right

Civil Service Director General-designate, Lauren Johnson has pledged her fullest commitment in ensuring that complicated issues of ghost names and defrauded salaries are abolished, if confirmed as the new head of the institution.

    Miss Johnson, who was under oath while undergoing a Senate confirmation hearing on Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at the Capitol Building, acknowledged the huge task ahead, and assured members of the Liberian Senate that with the assistance, support, and cooperation of other branches of government, those problems will be resolved.

    The CSA Director General-designate furthered that, part of her plans will be to focus on the decentralization of activities which will enable employees receive feedbacks and enable them to verify their status in their areas of operations as opposed to traveling long distances or coming to Monrovia and going through difficult processes to have their situations resolved.

   “I pity the conditions of those who have to travel miles to come to Monrovia for their employment issue. There is a framework already in place, and we are going to work within this framework in order to be effective,” she asserted.

    CSA is the largest public recruitment institution for civil servants in Liberia.

     The institution has since been marred with controversies over the creation of fraudulent payroll, ghost salaries, and double placing of names by unscrupulous individuals whose intention is to rob central government of needed funds.

    When questioned by the Senate Confirmation Committee as to what will she put in place to tackle the ‘ugly’ situation that has existed for years at the institution, the CSA Director General-Designate said under her watch, corrective measures will be put in place to adequately address the situation.

    “We are going to formulate a rigorous Verification Process that will avoid the repetition of these acts,” she said.

    Madam Johnson concluded by thanking President George Manneh Weah for affording her the opportunity to serve her country and vows to work in the interest Liberians if confirmed by the Liberian Senate.
